Airbnb and the Italian city of Florence have signed an agreement that will see the home sharing website pay taxes for each person that books through its website. The tax will consist of 2.50 euro per person per night paid directly upon booking online – and is estimated to bring in around10 million euro each year.
‘This is just the beginning of a collaboration that will see Airbnb quickly committed to supporting the city on issues such as the decentralization and promotion of sustainable tourism,’ said Airbnb Italia country manager Matteo Stifanelli.
There are currently 7.500 hosts on Airbnb in Florence.
