Intrepid Travel has set a science-based emission reduction target in line with a 1.5°C future. Intrepid is one of 529 companies in the world, and the only tour operator, with approved science-based targets from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) as the company steps up its fight for a more sustainable future for the travel industry.
ABTA’s latest report takes a wide-ranging look at the impacts of travel and tourism, both positive and negative, and proposes a framework to guide its own activities as well as action points for the wider the travel industry and policymakers. Despite COVID-19, the Sustainable Tourism Awards by Skal International, received 44 entries from 23 countries. Responsible travel company Better Places launched successful campaign 'Dream Now, Travel Later' to stay connected with travellers and highlight the plight of their local teams. So far their innovative crowd-funding efforts have raised an impressive 65,000 euros for their teams of guides and drivers affected by the pandemic.
