The organisation will use the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to bring three global issues to the forefront of discussions within the travel industry in 2018.
Initiative seeks to bring together a coalition of industry partners and PATA members to create and implement a campaign that challenges the industry, particularly the hospitality sector, to reduce food waste to landfill.
The winning projects were divided into four categories – Public Policy and Governance, Research and Technology, Enterprises, and Non-governmental Organizations.
This year hotels across the world will compete in categories which examine their carbon footprint, water stewardship, waste reduction, community impact, and their role as a responsible employer.
