World Travel Awards names Attika Europe’s Leading Sustainable Tourism Destination
Greece cleaned at the World Travel Awards 2022 which were held on Sunday in a special gala ceremony held in Mallorca, Spain, with Greek hotels, beach and conference resorts crowned among Europe’s best, according to Hospitality.org.
11 Greek hotels were named among the best in Europe, whilst Attica and Athens received three distinctions: as leading urban destinations for cultural tourism, as a leading tourist committee in Europe (Athens-Convention and Visitors Bureau) and as a leading destination for sustainable tourism in Europe.
The Regional Authority of Attica landed the Europe’s Leading Sustainable Tourism Destination 2022 award with the region beating off global destinations such as Dubrovnik, Edinburgh, Baden-Wurttemberg, Pembrokeshire and the Algarve.
Meanwhile, Halkidiki and Cyclades emerged as the best inland destination and island destination in Greece respectively.
Europe’s premier travel brands were present at the blockbuster gala ceremony at the new Hilton Mallorca Galatzo. The brightest stars of the hospitality industry aligned at the World Travel Awards (WTA) European Gala Ceremony 2022 to discover who amongst them had won the ultimate accolades in tourism.
Travel industry VIPs from 40 nations attended the big travel industry reunion at Hilton’s first property on Mallorca. The recently opened 208-room Hilton Mallorca Galatzo is the latest addition to join Hilton’s growing European portfolio.
