Gijón Calidad Turística and Travindy announce destination media partnership

1

We are pleased to announce a new collaboration agreement between the department of tourism in the city of Gijon (Gijón Calidad Turística), a well-know tourism destination in Spain, and Travindy. This agreement will help to give greater visibility to sustainable tourism initiatives in Gijón through the publication of news, sustainability stories and case studies on both websites and social media networks in our aim to contribute to a more responsible tourism industry.

The main objective of Gijon Calidad Turística is to work with business and tourism entities in Gijon, involving them in projects related to Quality, Accessibility, Sustainability and Innovation. This mission has consolidated Gijon as a destination committed to the development of a competitive tourism offer in the region. In 2012, Gijón started its sustainable tourism journey and today they are proud to have obtained the certification ‘Biosphere World Urban Destination’. In addition to this, and in collaboration with the ‘Club de Empresas de Turismo de Negocios de Asturias’ (Asturias Tourism Business Cluster), the city has involved tourism stakeholders in implementing best practices throughout the project ‘Responsible Tourism Gijon’.

Gijón Calidad Turística is the first destination that joins Travindy in our aim to bring together different tourism stakeholders in Spain. This collaboration is only the beginning of what we hope will become a nationwide network, where we can create connections between destinations and encourage success stories, experiences, challenges and difficulties that we face today in sustainable tourism.

Do not hesitate to contact us today if you would like to start this movement in your region and join our network of international sustainable tourism professionals.
