In the upcoming year, some of the travel trends of 2021 are expected to stay, such as domestic tourism, alternative accommodation and sustainable tourism.

Meliá Hotels International has announced plans to take part in a Spanish governmental project which aims to transform and recover the travel industry. Part of the project will be the creation of a prototype for carbon-neutral hotels. The company hopes that European recovery funds will be used to support the project.
