Virgin Atlantic<\/a>\u00a0has scrapped gendered uniforms and will instead allow crew to choose the workwear they feel represents them most.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The airline has reversed a policy which required pilots, cabin crew and ground staff to wear a specific uniform based on their gender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Staff will now be given a free choice between Virgin\u2019s<\/a> burgundy uniform \u2013 a blazer and trousers with a tie \u2013 or its red uniform \u2013 traditionally consisting of a jacket and skirt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TV personality Michelle Visage, who serves as a judge on Ru Paul’s Drag Race, non-binary performer Tyreece Nye and LGBTQ+ activist Tanya Compas have all given their support to the inclusivity drive and feature in the campaign and a promotional video posted to Virgin’s YouTube channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jaime Forsstroem, a cabin crew member at Virgin Atlantic, said: \u201cThe updated gender identity policy is so important to me. As a non-binary person, it allows me to be myself at work and have the choice in what uniform I wear.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
