In the first edition of the\u00a0Awards for Sustainable and Social Tourism in Ibero-America<\/strong>, the\u00a0Costa Rican Network of Accessible Tourism<\/strong>\u00a0won the award that accredits it as first place in the\u00a0Solidarity Tourism category<\/strong>, an event that took place within the framework of the\u00a0\u2018Sustainable Social Tourism Summit\u2019<\/strong>.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The venue for the event was the city of Le\u00f3n, Guanajuato, where the \u2018Award for Sustainable and Social Tourism in Ibero-America 2022\u2019 was awarded and the best practices in social and sustainable tourism at the international level were chosen in three categories:\u00a0Environmentally Responsible Tourism, Solidarity Tourism and Socially Responsible Tourism<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AN IMPORTANT ACHIEVEMENT<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is an important achievement for Costa Rica and for the Network, because it denotes Costa Rica\u2019s efforts to make tourism increasingly inclusive and accessible, now known and valued in other latitudes, which helps us to differentiate ourselves as a destination<\/a>,\u201d said Alberto L\u00f3pez, general manager of the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to this award, said Stephanie Sheehy, representative of the Costa Rican Network<\/a> of Accessible Tourism, \u201cwe can bring to Costa Rica a new award where solidarity and social tourism is the transversal axis of our work. We are doing things well as an organization and as a country, and this award certifies it, highlighting Costa Rica as a responsible, sustainable and supportive destination\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the \u2018Sustainable Social Tourism Summit\u2019, 35 high-quality projects from countries such as Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Spain, Argentina and Costa Rica, among others, were presented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Costa Rican Network of Accessible Tourism won the \u2018Solidarity Tourism\u2019<\/a> award with a project that takes into account the management, operation and development of tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
