\"Kenya
World Travel Awards<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 the leading authority that recognises and rewards excellence in travel and tourism \u2013 has revealed its Africa and Indian Ocean 2021 winners.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

In the Africa categories, Kenya enjoyed a strong showing, with its thriving capital Nairobi named \u2018Africa\u2019s Leading Business Travel Destination\u2019, Kenyatta International Convention Centre collecting \u2018Africa\u2019s Leading Meetings & Conference Centre\u2019 and Kenya Tourist Board winning \u2018Africa\u2019s Leading Tourist Board\u2019. Cape Town was recognised as \u2018Africa\u2019s Leading City Destination\u2019 and its majestic Table Mountain won \u2018Africa\u2019s Leading Tourist Attraction\u2019 for the third year in succession. Tanzania \u2013 with its national parks, wildlife and palm-fringed beaches \u2013 was voted \u2018Africa\u2019s Leading Destination\u2019.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

In the Indian Ocean, Maldives cemented its reputation as the definitive secluded sanctuary to win \u2018Indian Ocean\u2019s Leading Destination\u2019, \u2018Indian Ocean\u2019s Leading Beach Destination\u2019 and \u2018Indian Ocean\u2019s Leading Dive Destination\u2019. Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation was named \u2018Indian Ocean\u2019s Leading Tourist Board\u2019.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Meanwhile the lush forests and palm-fringed beaches of Seychelles helped the islands scoop \u2018Indian Ocean\u2019s Leading Honeymoon Destination\u2019. Mystical Madagascar was named \u2018Indian Ocean\u2019s Leading Green Destination\u2019, whilst Reunion Island was heralded \u2018Indian Ocean\u2019s Leading Nature Destination\u2019.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

In the hospitality sector, Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club took \u2018Africa\u2019s Leading Hotel\u2019, whilst Saxon Hotel, Villas & Spa, South Africa picked up \u2018Africa\u2019s Leading Boutique Hotel\u2019. In a fiercely-contested category, Vakkaru Maldives was named \u2018Indian Ocean\u2019s Leading Resort\u2019, whilst Velaa Private Island, Maldives won \u2018Indian Ocean\u2019s Leading Private Island Resort\u2019.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

In the newcomer categories, Radisson Hotel & Convention Centre, Johannesburg was voted \u2018Africa\u2019s Leading New Hotel\u2019 with \u2018Indian Ocean\u2019s Leading New Resort\u2019 going to \u2018Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas\u2019.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

In the aviation sector, Kenya Airways won both \u2018Africa\u2019s Leading Airline\u2019 and \u2018Africa\u2019s Leading Airline – Business Class\u2019, Cape Town International Airport took \u2018Africa\u2019s Leading Airport\u2019, whilst Air Seychelles collected \u2018Indian Ocean\u2019s Leading Airline\u2019.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The results follow a year-long search for the world\u2019s top travel, tourism and hospitality brands. Votes were cast by travel industry professionals and the public, with the nominee gaining the most votes in a category named as the winner.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Graham Cooke, Founder, World Travel Awards, says: \u201cOur winners represent the very best of travel and hospitality in Africa and the Indian Ocean and my congratulations to each of them. They are all playing starring roles in spearheading the travel and tourism recovery.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Country-level winners include Sandfontein Lodge & Nature Reserve (Namibia\u2019s Leading Safari Lodge\u2019); Xigera Safari Lodge (\u2018Botswana\u2019s Leading Luxury Safari Lodge\u2019); and Morukuru Beach Lodge (\u2018South Africa\u2019s Leading Beach Hotel\u2019).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
