This approach combats climate change while lessening the countries\u2019 vulnerability to external shocks.<\/p>\r\n<p>Looking ahead, the brief stresses the importance of international cooperation and innovative financing approaches\u00a0to ensure SIDS\u2019 survival. Such tools include blue and green bonds, and debt swaps or debt restructuring such as the Caribbean\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cepal.org\/en\/news\/alicia-barcena-reviewed-caribbean-authorities-progress-debt-climate-adaptation-swap-initiative\">Debt for Climate Adaptation Swap initiative<\/a>.
