A group of researchers from the University of Queensland<\/a> and the Wildlife Conservation Society<\/a> (WCS) have released a stunning map showing that just five countries are home to more than 70 percent of the world’s last, undisturbed wilderness areas.<\/p>\n

Those five countries? The U.S., Brazil, Canada, Russia and Australia.<\/p>\n

In a series of studies over two years, the researchers found that more than 77 percent of land, excluding Antarctica<\/a>, and 87 percent of oceans<\/a>, has been modified by human activity in some way.<\/p>\n
