However a new article on Greenbiz suggests that there are far greater effects that climate change could have on aviation&#8217;s viability, and that this means: &#8220;The airline industry has a vested interest in the fight against climate change. It\u2019s in airlines\u2019 own best interest \u2014 and in the best interest of the public they serve \u2014 to support <a href=\"http:\/\/www.edf.org\/climate\/act-now-key-opportunity-support-carbon-limits\">tough limits<\/a> on carbon pollution.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h6>In Brief<\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>Hot weather is bad for runways &#8211; above 100% tarmac has been known to soften and for airplane wheels to get stuck.<\/li>\n<li>Bad weather grounds fights &#8211; 2014\u00a0saw the most\u00a0flight cancellations in the US in a quarter century<\/li>\n<li>Water levels. Many airports and runways are built on low lying, flat floodplains or coastal areas.
