U<\/span>bicada en el cant\u00f3n El Chaco, en la provincia ecuatoriana de Napo, esta comunidad rural ha conseguido mantener su identidad desde tiempos coloniales gracias a su ubicaci\u00f3n geogr\u00e1fica y ahora lucha por medio del ecoturismo contra las amenazas del progreso y la emigraci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

\u201cOyacachi es una comunidad que, al ser remota,\u00a0<\/strong>evit\u00f3 el control colonial\u00a0y pudieron desarrollarse en relativa autonom\u00eda en la \u00e9poca de colonia y despu\u00e9s de ella\u201d, afirma Sime\u00f3n Floyd, profesor de antropolog\u00eda de la Universidad San Francisco de Quito.<\/p>\n

Su\u00a0poblaci\u00f3n ind\u00edgena\u00a0busca aprovechar la gran cantidad de lagunas, r\u00edos, senderos y animales a su alrededor para convertirse en una comunidad sostenible y, con ello, ofrecer un futuro a los m\u00e1s j\u00f3venes a la vez que garantiza su propia identidad. Pero la naturaleza no es el \u00fanico recurso tur\u00edstico de Oyacachi, tambi\u00e9n lo son sus\u00a0artesan\u00edas, reconocidas desde tiempos ancestrales porque el pueblo siempre ha destacado por sus numerosos artesanos.<\/p>\n

La nueva apuesta, de car\u00e1cter comercial y sobre todo identitaria, contempla la construcci\u00f3n de\u00a0nuevos hospedajes, as\u00ed como la formaci\u00f3n de sus j\u00f3venes en el sector turismo.\u00a0\u201cQueremos vivir del ecoturismo\u201d, explica Edgar Parion,\u00a0secretario de la comunidad, “por lo que la comunidad utiliza sus fondos colectivos para enviar a los j\u00f3venes a estudiar. El objetivo es que con lo que aprendan puedan impulsar a Oyacachi como destino y que la parroquia sea, alg\u00fan d\u00eda, autosustentable del turismo”.<\/p>\n
