{"id":26206,"date":"2018-05-07T16:18:55","date_gmt":"2018-05-07T15:18:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/travindy.com\/?p=26206"},"modified":"2019-06-21T12:23:23","modified_gmt":"2019-06-21T11:23:23","slug":"cto-launches-new-initiative-on-climate-change-resilience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/travindy.com\/news\/2018\/05\/cto-launches-new-initiative-on-climate-change-resilience\/","title":{"rendered":"CTO launches new initiative on climate change resilience"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img alt=\"CTO launches new initiative on climate change resilience\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\" src=\"https:\/\/travindy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/AR-180509940.jpg\" \/><\/div>\n<p><span class=\"wpsdc-drop-cap\">T<\/span>he Barbados-based Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) has launched a regional tourism education and awareness campaign (RTEAC) aimed at fostering a discussion on climate resilience and sustainability on both the regional and international stage.<\/p>\n<p>The CTO said that the initiative is dedicated to the memory of its former employee, Bonita Morgan, \u201ca beloved regional champion of tourism education and human resource development\u201d who died last month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Caribbean tourism product is to a large extent based on the natural environment, and as such CTO and our member countries are committed to safeguarding these resources on which our very lives and livelihoods depend,\u201d said Hugh Riley, CTO Secretary General.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving recently celebrated Earth Day, we are reminded to respect and protect the fragile planetary resources that are critical to maintaining the integrity and economic stability of our countries. Through the Education and Awareness campaign, it is our intention to inspire and empower the regional tourism stakeholders to concerted action,\u201d he
