T<\/span>he founder of the new Polish sustainable hotels project explains how her idea was born…<\/p>\n

“Green Hotels Index was born from\u00a0my inner belief that there is no other way to travel than sustainable way, wherever\u00a0I go –\u00a0I want to\u00a0stay and sleep green.<\/p>\n

I launched it a\u00a0few months ago after\u00a0 publishing the post on green hotels and their eco standards on Slow Fix Blog<\/a>\u00a0 It made me\u00a0realize there are neither tour operators, nor websites in\u00a0my country\u00a0that provide information on green lodgings.<\/p>\n

I have chosen pineapple as an icon of Green Hotels Index because of its symbolic meaning. It’s not only nicely looking and tasty fruit but the source of pinatex -planet & people friendly textile produced\u00a0out of pineapple’s leaves that\u00a0 traditionally used to be waste. \u00a0It’s alike green hotels they keep their standards without producing extra waste and\u00a0that help preserving nature around.<\/p>\n

Everyone is using social media to get inspired or learn something new\u00a0so I have started with fanpage on Facebook and recently on Instagram. \u00a0Green Hotels Index\u00a0fanpage\u00a0is\u00a0mainly\u00a0the source of information on the sustainable and responsible hotels of the world\u00a0but also\u00a0green initiatives related to lodgings.\u00a0I have serious commitment to delivering honest content. Thereof\u00a0\u00a0I not only search for green\u00a0hotels but also check carefully through various resources if they have both green philosophy and green standards, not only imitating them.<\/p>\n

I created Green Hotels Index\u00a0 to help spreading the word on leading sustainable places within the industry\u00a0 providing direct links to green hotels worldwide with\u00a0 comments. Once having possibility\u00a0I check them personally and give\u00a0 broader overview on their eco standards. I dedicated Green Hotels Index to responsible tourists, eco travellers , hotels searching for inspirations to become green, sustainability commentators, travel bloggers, or someone simply looking to keep on eco news within hotel industry.\u00a0I hope all of them find heaps of helpful information and resources. My initiative has adopted the United Nation\u2019s Year of Sustainability for Tourism Development to explore the theme of \u2018green lodgings\u2019 to inspire responsible tourism and highlight examples of best green practice within hotel industry.<\/p>\n

I would like Green Hotels Index\u00a0to\u00a0become a first hand database of green lodgings of the world especially for Poles but of course all nations are welcome.<\/p>\n
