N<\/span>ews Deeply<\/a>, in partnership with\u00a0Sustainable Brands, has produced a series of profiles looking at how brands are tackling some of the world\u2019s biggest challenges. The goal is to examine trends and gather insights from a new wave of corporate citizenship \u2013 in an era when the private sector is increasingly expected to play a positive role in improving our lives and societies. This is the 10th article in\u00a0the series<\/a>.<\/p>\n

REI\u00a0recently embarked on one of the most ambitious efforts of its eight-decade campaign to improve access to the outdoors, with five \u201cRewilding Projects\u201d that stretch from coast to coast.<\/p>\n

From Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles to Chicago and New York, the outdoor equipment supplier is teaming with nonprofit groups on a multiyear program that will improve and extend trail networks and reshape how people in those cities connect with the outdoors.<\/p>\n
