RISE aims to address this.<\/p>\n<p>The programme hopes to inspire female leaders in Australia and New Zealand to aim for General Manager roles.<\/p>\n<p>An important component of IHG\u2019s global\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihgplc.com\/responsible-business\/our-people\/diversity-and-equality\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">diversity and inclusion<\/a>\u00a0philosophy, RISE will provide a career development programme for female leaders who have aspirations to become General Managers, demonstrating the value the company places on diversity in creating an engaged and high performing workforce.<\/p>\n<p>Karin Sheppard, IHG Chief Operating Officer, Australasia and Japan\u00a0said, \u201cIHG has a great reputation as having balanced gender, cultural, lifestyle and generational diversity across the organisation, including in our regional leadership team of which I\u2019m a part. We did, however, recognise the opportunity to grow our female GM population to build increased diversity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are poised for significant growth in Australasia and the wider region, so we need to have a full pipeline of the best future leaders ready to take leadership roles. It is well proven that diverse teams outperform those that lack diversity, which is why we are committed to providing female leaders with the support and motivation they need to reach their aspirations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>RISE will provide support to these high potential female leaders, through the following key elements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mentor \u2013 a current female General Manager will guide and support each RISE participant<\/li>\n<li>Sponsor \u2013 a senior male leader as a \u2018champion of change\u2019 to provide career advice, whilst also benefiting from \u2018reverse mentoring\u2019 from the participants on supporting Gender Equality in operations<\/li>\n<li>Career Planning Support \u2013 via face to face sessions with IHG\u2019s Learning and Development team<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>RISE participants will also be inspired to motivate female leaders in their own hotel, through\u00a0<em>Lean In<\/em>\u00a0Circles. They will be asked to provide input and feedback to IHG\u2019s Diversity and Inclusion forum, thereby ensuring all programmes are evolving and efficient.<\/p>\n<p>IHG currently has 41 hotels operating under four brands in Australasia:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihg.com\/intercontinental\/hotels\/gb\/en\/reservation#scmisc=header_ic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">InterContinental<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihg.com\/crowneplaza\/hotels\/gb\/en\/reservation#scmisc=header_ic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Crowne Plaza<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihg.com\/holidayinn\/hotels\/gb\/en\/reservation#scmisc=header_cp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Holiday Inn<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihg.com\/holidayinnexpress\/hotels\/gb\/en\/reservation#scmisc=header_hi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Holiday Inn Express<\/a>; part of a global network of 5,000 hotels in more than 100 countries and territories.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This article was first published by\u00a0<em>Green Hotelier<\/em>.
