JOB OPPORTUNITY: Country Director, Niños de Guatemala

NGO Niños de Guatemala (NDG), which works with the Good Hotel, is looking for a Country Director Guatemala who can take the organization to the next level. Are you a natural leader and entrepreneurial go-getter and do you want to further develop our long-term strategy? Then we are looking for you!

To ensure sustainable growth and everlasting impact for our activities in Guatemala, we are looking for a game- changer in these exciting times. Since 2006 Niños de Guatemala provides underprivileged children with an education. With our three operating schools, 3 social businesses, around 500 students, 50 employees, and our (international) collaborations, not one day will be the same.

As our Country Director Guatemala you will have responsibility for all our activities in Guatemala. This means you will be crucial in defining the overall strategy going forward, you will lead the Guatemalan team, build our revenue streams and dive into monitoring & evaluation. All to improve our impact and continuously support our goals of education, empowerment and entrepreneurship!

You are a natural leader. You communicate with ease, are a good listener and love new innovative ideas. You are a social being and combine your social ease with a strong sense of prioritization and a business mindset. You are flexible, love to work with the team as well as taking time on your own to write down your and your
teams plans and priorities. You have experience in binding people to you and your organization. You are very organized and you love to nourish the flexible and dynamic nature of your team.

Responsibilities

As Country Director Guatemala, you will be responsible for energizing and challenging the entire organization to develop and execute new (and entrepreneurial) efforts. You steer and stimulate the course of the organization with respect to 1) the overall strategy, 2) the long-term goals and 3) the culture, identity and values
of NDG. You recognize quality and stimulate the potential of your various team members while identifying the key areas for improvement and growth. You manage NDG Guatemala’s executive team and hold responsibility for financial soundness and accountability. You report directly to the Global Board of NDG and receive attractive compensation.

Requirements

You have a relevant university degree with significant relevant work experience. You are familiar with a corporate environment and you are now looking for a great change of scenery. You are flexible, result oriented and target driven. You have the ability to motivate, guide and develop a team. You have strong social, communicative and diplomatic skills and are fluent in English and Spanish. You have excellent public speaking skills. You are flexible and able to attend events in the evenings and weekends. Niños de Guatemala provides underprivileged children with an education. NDG runs two primary schools and a secondary school which house over 500 Guatemalan children that would otherwise not have been able to go to school. The organization aims for self-sufficiency through our business initiatives such as a Spanish school and tourist activities.
