Destinations can now apply to be Whale Heritage Sites

Destinations can now apply to be Whale Heritage SitesFollowing the completion of a public consultation to define and finalise the criteria for Whale Heritage Site status, the application process is now open.

Whale Heritage Site accreditation will be awarded to those areas of the world considered to be centres of excellence and responsibility in taking care of and interacting with cetaceans – whales, dolphins, and porpoises (click here for background info).

Whale-heritage-site-logoAnyone who represents or works within a destination which they  believe to be a great candidate Whale Heritage Site, please go to the Whale Heritage Site website where initial applications can be made. The first step is a short, simple survey which is easily completed online. Responses will be reviewed by the WHS Steering Committee and candidates will be advised whether their destination is eligible to become a candidate Whale Heritage Site and start the process towards Site accreditation.
