African Responsible Tourism Awards launches only publicly voted category

The African Responsible Tourism Awards at WTM Africa announces today the launch of its only publically-voted category – the People’s Choice in Responsible Tourism in association with Ticket2Utopia.

Three winners of the 2015 African Responsible Tourism Awards at WTM Africa go forward into this year’s People’s Choice category.

The finalists include a luxury game lodge in Botswana with noticeable innovation in reducing the environmental footprint of the lodge, a group of tourism businesses that have created an exemplary destination which has conserved fynbos and marine wildlife, and a marine adventure tourism operator ploughing significant resources into the conservation of whales, sharks and penguins.

Heidi van der Watt, Managing Director of organisers Better Tourism Africa, comments, “One of the main aims of the African Responsible Tourism Awards at WTM Africa is to inspire tourists and the tourism industry by what is possible to achieve through responsible tourism.”

Voting closes on 4 April 2016 and the winner will be announced at the African Responsible Tourism Awards ceremony on 7 April 2016, at World Travel Market Africa in Cape Town. The winner of the magazine draw will also be announced in April 2016.
